The opening of the "Messages from Thailand" exhibition took place on 16th of October in the Gallery of the Faculty of Fine Arts on Zana 11 Street. The exhibition presents graphics by professor Pongdej Chaiyakut.

Messages from Thailand PHOTO REPORTAGE
The dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Chiang Mai University was born in Bankok. He graduated from Silpakorn University there. For two years he also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow.
In our gallery, the artist presented prints made in the dry point technique. They include both quite minimalistic works and compositions full of symbolism. Most often one can notice human representations - including a self-portrait - and animalistic motifs. The professor's works are an example of socially engaged art, since they raise a subject of important problems for the artist, which can be noticed in his country.
There was a cordial atmosphere at the vernissage, which was conducive not only to discussions on the content of the work, but also to exchange experiences on graphics technology.

Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw

Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (Polish: Akademia Sztuk Pięknych w Warszawie) is a public university of visual arts and applied arts located in the Polish capital. The Academy traces its history back to the Department of Arts founded at the Warsaw University in 1812. As a separate institution it was founded in 1844 during the Partitions of Poland. In an upgrade in 1904 it was named the Warsaw School of Fine Arts; and in 1932 it received recognition as an Academy. At first the institute did not have its own building and classes were held in several locations around the city. Following an architectural competition a design by Alfons Gravier was chosen and construction began in 1911. The building was completed by the outbreak of the First World War.
